Why do we Work?
As Humans we always want to feel we have a purpose in life, we need motivation and enjoy contributing to society. We all desire love and purpose and one can find their passion for work. Working establishes a great sense of meaning and thus giving one a sense of dignity. Furthermore work provides us with the cash we need to buy basic items such as food, water, and shelter.
The Dignity of Work
"If the dignity of work is to be protected, then the basic rights of workers must be respected--the right to productive work, to decent and fair wages, to the organization and joining of unions, to private property, and to economic initiative" (usccb.org). It also indicates that no job is superior to another all are equally benefiting the community and no worker in different positions or forms of work should be discriminated due to their job or position within that job.

Consumer Addiction
This special kind of addiction plagues our society, every single one of us falls victim to this materialistic lifestyle due to the medias influence. They tell us we will be happier better people if we buy better newer items even though our older versions still work. This mentality has been etched into our brains "Work, Buy, Consume, Die". One must have the self control to not fall into the corporate trap and be happy with what one already has and not grow attached with these worldly possessions, they will not come to heaven with us thus rendering them as useless.

What Have I Learned from this Unit?
This unit was extremely important to me, since we are in grade 12 and leaving childhood we must work to provide ourselves with things our parents usually bought for us. Now I know why people get a job, before I thought its only about the money and society says we have to but I never knew it gave us a sense of purpose and fulfillment and that is very true and I feel nice to have that view in my mind. Also this unit reminded me that one should not become addicted to our earth-bound possessions and always to remember that true happiness doesn't come from how many material items we have or how much money we have.
